Introduction to human biology from an evolutionary perspective. Biological variability and its genetic and ecological underpinnings, with emphasis on modern variation and adaptation. Discussion of biological and social factors that determine health. Principles of heredity, development, evolution, adaptation, and epidemics presented using examples from a cross-cultural perspective. Students develop scientific reasoning skills and examine the role of human biology in society. Impact of major problems facing humanity today, such as population displacement and global warming. Prerequisite: Evolutionary Anthropology 101 or Biology 202L. One course.
