Ahmed Ahad, B.S. 2019

Medical student at FIU HWCOM

2019 Major: Evolutionary Anthropology; minors in Biology and Chemistry

How has being an Evolutionary Anthropology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"It allowed me to explore my interests outside of the usual premed route of biology and chemistry. By concentrating on anatomy, I was also well prepared for my medical school anatomy courses which is often very difficult for most students. I was able to conduct research at the Smithsonian as well. Overall I am very grateful for choosing this major."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Evolutionary Anthropology programs?

"Do an independent senior thesis research project, it is a valuable learning experience that allows you to produce unique research that graduate programs will love to hear about."
